When the plan sayssell the business, someone has to sell it.

Covenant Business Brokers handles the part of the estate plan that leaves the document and enters the market — an independent, defensible valuation of the operating company, and a confidential sale when the family decides that is the answer. You keep the client, the plan, and the file.

Which file is sitting on your desk right now?

Six taps, about 40 seconds. A partner calls you back — not a coordinator.

“And whois going to buythe business?”

You have drafted the trust, the buy-sell, and the powers. The hardest line in the whole plan is the one where a closely held business is supposed to convert into money for heirs who do not want to run it.

Without a real valuation and a real buyer, that clause is a wish. We are the operators who turn it into a closing — and we do it without touching your relationship with the family.

Our partners built and ran a company doing nearly $10 million a year. When we tell a family what their business is worth and how it sells, it comes from having sat in that chair.

Why Partner With Us

Why professionals work with us.

01

A number that survives scrutiny.

Every engagement starts with a certified valuation from an independent NACVA-credentialed appraiser — the caliber of report banks, buyers, the IRS, and courts are used to seeing. Covenant is never the appraiser, so the number is not ours to flatter.

02

No fee sharing. No ethics problem.

We do not pay attorneys for referrals and we would not ask you to accept one. This partnership is professional reciprocity: you get an execution partner, we get clients who arrive with their affairs already in order.

03

We stay out of your lane.

We do not draft, advise on tax, or opine on estate structure, and we do not introduce your client to another firm that does. When the business sells, that family needs their attorney more than ever — and that is you.

How the Relationship Actually Works

Reciprocity in writing, not a referral fee.

Texas attorneys generally cannot share fees with non-lawyers, and we are not going to build a partnership on something your bar rules frown at. So we do not.

What we sign instead is a short mutual referral and confidentiality understanding: you send us the sale execution, we send you the owners who walk in with no succession plan and no documents — and there are more of those than you would like to hear.

  • No referral fee paid or accepted — nothing for you to disclose or defend
  • Written confidentiality terms before we ever speak to your client
  • Valuation reports addressed so they are usable in your file
  • We report to you, not around you, for the life of the engagement

Covenant Business Brokers is not a law firm and does not provide legal, tax, or estate planning advice. We do not pay or accept referral fees in connection with attorney relationships. Business valuations are prepared by independent NACVA-credentialed appraisers; Covenant is not the appraiser. Engaging Covenant does not guarantee the sale of any business or any particular price, timeline, or outcome. Attorneys remain solely responsible for compliance with the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and their own firm's policies.

How the Partnership Works

Five steps. You're involved in one of them.

  1. 01

    We meet, professional to professional.

In person or a call. You ask what we do, how we are paid by owners, and where our work stops relative to yours.

  2. 02

    We paper the relationship.

A short mutual referral and confidentiality understanding. No fee sharing, no exclusivity, no obligation to send us anything.

  3. 03

You bring us in on a file.

Usually for a valuation first — a buy-sell trigger, a gift, a probate, or an owner who finally admits none of the kids want the company.

  4. 04

    We value, then we market.

Independent certified valuation. If the family elects to sell, we market confidentially to vetted buyers under NDA and manage financing, diligence, and escrow.

  5. 05

It closes. You finish the plan.

The illiquid asset becomes proceeds, and the estate plan you drafted finally works the way it reads on paper.

“Selling a retail clothing business comes with unique challenges: finding someone who understands the brand, the inventory, and the customer base. Yazir took the time to really understand what I’d built with my clothing store and found a buyer who appreciated the vision. The process was confidential, professional, and he kept me informed every step of the way. I’m grateful for how smoothly everything went.”
